Using Calculations and Connections
This tutorial will show you how to set up your own loan repayment calculator.
1. To get started we have provided a template page, click Loan Sample to add it into your page collection.
2. ThinkDigits will add the page below to your page collection.

The page contains the following:
- A blue House price Tag
- An orange Loan length Tag
- A red Interest rate Tag
- And a green Function Bubble with the loan repayment
To calculate what the repayment would be like for a 20 year loan.
3. Enter ‘20′ into the calculator.
4. Touch and drag the calculator display , a tag will appear with the number ‘20′.
5. Hold the tag over the ‘loan length’.
6. Once you see the Tag make a pulse, release the tag.
7. The loan period will be updated. You will also notice that the loan repayment is recalculated.
Now we will expand our calculation to allow a deposit to be added to our page.
8. In the calculator, enter an amount of 10,000.
9. Drag the calculator display and drop it just under the ‘House price’ tag.

10. Double tap on the new 10,000 tag. A Tag Properties page will then appear as shown below.

11. Set the appearance by:
- Change the colour of the tag to purple.
- Set the icon to a coin icon. Tap ‘Change Icon’ and browse an icon from the icon collection.
- Change the Tag style to a cloud shape.
- Change the Number Format to currency by clicking the ‘$’ symbol.
- Enter a label by clicking on the Label field, enter a label of ‘Deposit’.

11. To calculate the amount of the loan, we will add a function bubble. To do this press and drag the function key between the ‘house price’ and ‘deposit’ tags.
12. A popup menu of functions will appear. If the subtract function is not on the menu, press the ‘more..’ option in the menu.
13. The function properties screen will appear, press the ‘Function box’ and pick the ‘Subtract’ function from the selector.

14. To calculate the amount of the loan:
First connect the ‘House’ price to the ’subtract’ bubble. Drag the ‘House Price’ over the ’subtract’ bubble and hold until the Tag pulses.
Release the tag and the Connection menu will appear. Tap the ‘a’ slot to connect the house price tag.
Second connect the ‘Deposit’ amount to the subtract bubble. Drag the ‘Deposit’ tag over the ’subtract’ bubble and hold until the Tag pulses.
Release the tag and the Connection menu will appear. Tap the ‘b’ slot to connect the deposit tag.
15. The subtract bubble will now show the amount of the loan (the house price minus the deposit).
16. The last step is to connect the loan amount tag to the green payment calculation bubble. To to this:
Drag the subtract bubble over the Monthly Repayment bubble and hold until the Bubble pulses.
Release the tag and the Connection menu will appear. Tap the ‘presentValue’ slot to re-connect the subtract Function Bubble.
17. Lets see what the repayment would be like if the deposit was 50,000. Enter 50,000 into the calculator. Drag the calculator display onto the ‘Deposit’ tag and hold until the Tag pulses. Release and watch the loan repayment recalculate.
